Advice, Guides and Buying Hints:
The Pioneer DVR-320 DVD recorder fully reviewed.
- by na
(Review 2/21/05) The Pioneer DVR-320 DVD recorder comes loaded with useful features but it lacks a hard drive it and remains a basic DVD recorder. That said it's one of the best basic machines out there, very easy to use and would be great for new DVD recorder users.
Although the Pioneer DVR-320 has no hard drive it does have a "Chase Play" mode. This lets you start watching a show that's already being recorded.

Toshiba RD-XS32 DVR/DVD Recorder
- by N Browning
A new type of product addresses these concerns beautifully: a device that includes a DVD recorder and hard-disk drive. With such a device, you can record shows on the hard disk and dub the ones you really want to keep to a write-once DVD. Among the manufacturers that have entered this particular market segment is Toshiba, whose latest offering is the RD-XS32, which combines an 80-gigabyte hard-disk drive and a DVD-R/-RW/-RAM recorder.

Unbiased review of the Pioneer DVR-533H DVD recorder
- by na
(Reviewed 9/11/05) The Pioneer DVR-533H and the Pioneer DVR-531H (which lacks a FireWire port) are identical DVD recorders. The DVR-531-H is sold exclusively from Sam's Club and Wal-Mart.
The Pioneer DVR-533H DVD recorder has both style and substance. This feature laden DVD recorder (with a 80GB HDD) is as skinny as a DVD player. Don%u2019t let the size fool you. It's a heavy little bugger and very well made.
