Nikon D70s Review
- by Ben Long
($800+) Though the six-megapixel Nikon D70s gives you excellent image quality, and is a well-built, full-featured camera, it’s priced a little high given its capabilities. If you already own a collection of Nikon lenses (that you might have bought for your film camera), then the D70s makes a lot of sense for the Nikon user who is looking for a capable digital SLR. For everyone else, the choice isn’t so clear.

Nikon D50 Digital Camera Review
- by na
Nikon definitely scored a bull's-eye with the Nikon D70 digital SLR camera. The D70 seemed to throw its biggest rival, the Canon EOS 300D, into the shade. The Canon however carried a more attractive price tag. So Nikon struck back with the introduction of the Nikon D50 digital reflex (D-SLR) last April. A digital reflex, which is more compact than the Nikon D70s, but still featuring many interesting specifications.

Pentax ist DS Review
- by Ben Long
($600-$900) The Pentax ist DS is Pentax’s second digital SLR, a successor to the well-received Pentax ist. Priced at $899, the ist DS is substantially smaller than its predecessor, and offers improvements in buffer size and file-writing speed that help the camera’s overall performance. While the camera packs a good assortment of features, evaluating its image quality is a little trickier. (And figuring out how to pronounce its name is another challenge.)
